Fiery Moroccan Chicken Stew!

Don't you just LOVE the internet! I got this wonderful, spicy, recipe from my latest Natural Health magazine and I was thinking I would have to type in the whole recipe. Then I searched on their website and it popped up! Yeah! Here is a picture of the final product tonight. I love the the Moroccan spices - kind of like curry.
Fiery Moroccan Chicken Stew!

I finally got one!!!

Yippe- skippy! I've wanted one forever! I've looked on Craigslist forever and now I have a Vitamix! I got one at Costco today and I can't wait to break it out of the box! We are going to be sooo healthy!

This week at Safeway! $12 only!!

I only paid $12 for all of this - whoo-hoo! The nabisco cracker sale I mentioned earlier - then Cherrios were $1.66 a box plus my $.75 off two boxes made it even sweeter! I got my spinach and cabbage for FREE - 4 bags because of store sale of $1 each plus my coupon for $2 off 2! The cabbage will come in handy because we just finally got our VITAMIX!! Yeah! So happy - have wanted one forever!

Free Crackers!!

Thanks to iMommies for this tip! Because of the Nabisco $6 off promo -you can get Cheese Nips for FREE this week until Dec4th! They are 10 for $10 at Safeway right now - buy 6, get $6 off - FREE!! Great for holidays, and great to donate to food banks at this time of year - it won't cost you a thing - just the leg work of getting them - this would be a great project for the kids to use what they CAN do to help others without needing $$.

I found DD a Gap sweater for $2.95 and get this - Oilily pants for $9.95! We also bought an Anastasia video my kids have been asking for for a few months - so with my store credit - I paid $15 cash for all of the stuff! Oilily pants retail from $95-$125 a pair! I was so excited!!

Now I'm going to raid the kids closets for more stuff to get rid of so I can go buy a few more cool HABA games!!

It's ONLY 7:30 pm??

Yaaaawn! I can't believe it is only 7:30 pm - I feel like it's the dead of night! I don't know if I can take 3+ months of this early darkness!! I just want to go to sleep. Maybe it's a good thing, I can go to be early and get up early and get things done! I can get up and do my bargain and coupon shopping in the early hours at the grocery store!

While I still can keep my eyes open, I'm going to clip coupons and get ready for my week of bargains! And cooking for Thanksgiving!

Our little Peanut!

Our beagle, Peanut, is such a good dog - we have had him over a year now. We got him from a family who was moving and could not keep him - and he was a bargain too - FREE!

He has turned out to be a great, loyal, loving dog. He is my walking buddy. He is a lot of company and I talk to him all the time. Because of Peanut, my children overcame their extreme fear of dogs. Now they roll around on the floor with him and love it! We are happy to have him as part of our family!

Tonight's Menu - Chili Stack Ups!

More thanks to Melony for this recipe! It's become a family favorite- the kids eat it up!

Make your standard chili recipe (I use ground turkey in ours) OR even easier, use canned chili

Build your stack as follows bottom to top:

Tortilla chips
Brown rice
Chili
Shredded cheese (I use Sargento's Reduced Fat Mexican Blend)
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Crushed Pineapple (I know it seems weird - but it totally MAKES this recipe!!)

Easy and healthy!

I Love FALL!

I love this time of year - yesterday we got our cord of wood for the winter and I have a roaring fire going. I just took a 30 minute walk with the dog in the brisk air - ahhhh.

One thing I miss about my Wild Wonderful West Virginia is the fall leaves - so beautiful! My dear friend Melony sent me photos today and I just had to share! Enjoy!

Good deals at Safeway!

I got this haul today for $82 total - saved $108 - savings of 57%. I really stocked up on Jennie-O turkey products because they were 50% off! I should have well enough to last into the new year! You can't see it too well in the picture, but there are 12 packages there!

The $82 included a major splurge on Bear Naked Granola! It's my fav (only 4 sugars per serving) and it usually sells for $6 a bag- it was on sale for $4 so I picked up 4 - hope it lasts a while! I am just learning to coupon shop, so I have a long way to go, but I am very impressed at my savings already - thanks to the inspiration from Crystal at Money Saving Mom!

My spinach and cole slaw were both $.50 each!
My Quaker Sweet & Salty granola bars were FREE!
Curves Cereal $.40 for one box $.75 for another.
Cherrios $1.13 for larger 14oz. box!!
Glade candles were $3.50 each after coupons - these retail for $10.99 each!
Natural Goodness chicken broth $.40 each.

Trying a new recipe....

Trying to eat out of the pantry this week - I have several cans of black eyed peas, so I'm going to try this new recipe.

Update: It was delicious! Here is the photo of the finished product! So healthy too! I made cornbread to go with it with cornmeal, brown rice flour and oat flour - trying out some new flours so we don't always choose wheat. Also, I used Jennie-O turkey sausage for the meat in the dish in place of pork - big time savings on the fat.

Meeting of a Dear Lady

I titled my blog "She Hath Done What She Could" - and I wanted to post a picture of where I got the inspiration!

When I first became a Christian, my brother gave me an excellent ladies book called "She Hath Done What She Could". I read the book cover to cover and several times through the years. It was written by Jane McWhorter, a special Christian lady and I finally got to meet her this past summer during a trip to Polishing the Pulpit in Alabama. So, my first post is dedicated to Sister McWhorter with thanks for all the great teaching I received via her wonderful book!
