Earth Day Giveaway WINNERS!!

The winners are Megan & Rachel!!
Please send me your email so I can get in touch with you to mail your winnings! Thanks!

Earth Day is approaching on April 22, 2010. I am all for being good stewards of what the Lord has blessed us with. We try to buy local and organic, we recycle and now our city has begun a composting program through our trash company I am very excited to participate in! My husband is a Master Recycler - our fence is from re-purposed fence boards, our end tables were re-purposed marble that came out of a large building demo in San Francisco and he built Maggie a changing room screen out of re-purposed closet doors. He should be in an issue of Ready Made!

To celebrate Earth Day, I'm hosting a giveaway of Eco-friendly jewelry from Prana. These pieces are made from the Tagua Nut that comes from the Tagua Palm Tree which grows in the tropical rainforests of South America. When ripe, the seeds fall to the ground and this natural harvest is dried for up to eight weeks. The nuts are then vegetable dyed, polished and each design is carved by hand. Each one is a natural work of art.

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment telling about something you do in your every day life to be a good steward of the things entrusted to us on earth. There will be 2 winners of 2 different bracelets. Thanks for entering!

A winner will be chosen using random.org on Thursday, April 22nd at 5pm in celebration of Earth Day 2010!
Deadline to enter will be Thursday, April 22nd at 12 noon.

  1. oh my! Both bracelets are SO beautiful, but my goodness--that green one just POPS! Thank you for sharing the story behind this naturally made jewelry of this company. :)

To be a good steward of the environment every day, since I work in an office environment, I INSIST on double siding or reusing one sided paper...I have to be careful that the previously used side does not contain confidential info though lol!

I work at a university so the institution goes through slews of paper by definition. I am one of many trying our part to save the trees. :)

thanks for he chance to win!

  3. Thanks for the great giveaway - I'm in!

I honestly can't say that I am as eco-conscious as I need to be, but I re-use my scrap printer paper for my notes, and when we purchase six-packs of any beverage with the plastic rings, I always cut the rings up because I read somewhere that sometimes animals get caught in the rings when they go through the landfills.

  5. Cute bracelets! I love your blog because you review the things I can actually afford :)

I rent a "LEED" apartment and all the appliances are green and energy saving. Not only helps the environment but me as well... I've never paid less for utilities.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!

  6. I try to recycle everyday as possible. I don't throw away paper, plastic, metal and glass products in my regular trash. It takes some effort to rinse out things but I don't want to see them in the landfill and rather have them recycled.

Thanks for such a great giveaway!

  7. Great giveaway!! The bracelets are beautiful!! I tried to be a good steward of the earth by recycling clothes, I give alot away to goodwill. We use tote bags for grocery shopping and my reuses old printing paper. One more thing, reuseable water bottles. I like your blog, and I am now following you!

  8. What a great idea for an Earth Day giveaway! I already recycle, but I'm going to ride my bike more rather than driving and eat more sustainable foods! You know, rather than McDonalds, haha! These are baby steps that I feel anyone can take to be more eco-friendly without having to make drastic lifestyle overhauls!
