It's a sad day

One of our dearest friends lost her husband this past week. He had the flu for a few days, laid down to take a nap and never woke up. It was a total shock. His family and our church family are grieving. Today is the memorial service and I am making food preparations.

All of this just reminds me of the brevity and uncertainty of life. You never know, no matter what your age or health, when you will pass from this life. We always need to be prepared to meet our God. Live the faith of the Bible and you will have nothing to fear, only the hope of eternal life in Heaven and joy everlasting.

Our friend will be so missed as a husband, father and friend. We will try our hardest to help, encourage and strengthen his family that is left behind.

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Lavender Icing and a Curated Knock-off

I have THE sweetest friends! Ever! Look what Chicka-San brought for me to church tonight? Can you even believe this delicious combo -Red Velvet cupcakes with Lavender Icing? Oh they were so delicious and GLUTEN-FREE! Last week she asked me for some of my gluten-free flour and she tricked out her recipe to make me these special cupcakes. I am so grateful for her thoughtfulness and efforts.
And no joke- this photo is from Anthro, but I saw a tee at ROSS today that was an exact replica- so keep your eyes out!!
Edit to say - I found the ROSS shirt online - it's from Nordstrom, designer, Olivia Moon, and sells for $44. It was $12 at ROSS.

OOTD- Remix Twenty Two!

No time! Preparing for my sweet twins bday tomorrow!
This dress was crawling up my legs at Target with static - had to buy Static Guard and apply immediately! Crazy!

My husband told me the boots don't get it with this dressy outfit -I said "That's the Anthro style and besides, it's all I have in my remix to choose from!" So be it! I am mismatched and my dress is hiking up all day - fun times! Work with what ya got!

No time for details!

My Valentine's Gift!

Here is my cute BCBG Cleo satchel hubby got me for Valentine's Day! I love it - the color is divine - a cross between gray and lavender. It has lots of great pockets- I have a lot of handbag requirements and this has an outside pocket for my phone, a key pocket and lipgloss pocket!

Product Review- Heart Thrive!!

What a perfect snack for Valentine's Day!

I was so happy to receive some samples from Mark at Heart Thrive in my mail this week. I was so anxious to try these snack cakes as my friend Vicki has been raving about the company's other product, Suncakes. I was fortunate to get one of each flavor to review:

Apricot
Cranberry
Apple
Date
Lemon Poppyseed
Raisin
Chocolate Chip
I am happy to report, I am in love with these little snack cakes - LOVE THEM! After coming off my juice fast, I was looking for something healthy, filling and without a ton of sugar. These fit the bill perfectly!

Heart Thrives are a delicious, VEGAN and NON-GMO energy bar. Made with oats, soy and dried fruits, each Heart Thrive supplies 30% daily PROTEIN, FIBER and CALCIUM.

Heart Thrives are made from ingredients with a low glycemic index that metabolize slowly providing sustained energy for hours.

Wow! That's a BIG punch in a little snack.

I am not going to say that these are tasty like a candy bar- they are not. They are healthy, full of whole grains and foods to fuel your body. If you have already been eating healthy foods, you will love them instantly. If you are used to processed foods, then you may find these will take some getting used to as they aren't chocked full of sugar and preservatives.

Heart Thrives are doctor recommended as ready to eat meals and snacks for people looking to maintain blood sugar balance with slow-burning, low-glycemic nutrition. They are high in fiber and low in fat and sugar.

I am so grateful to this company for producing this "meal in a cake". I can throw these in my purse and have them on hand when I get stuck out somewhere and I don't want to cave to fast foods and sugars. They average about 160 calories per cake (give or take depending on flavor). They are wheat and dairy free! They aren't certified gluten-free and this is what the website states:

California Suncakesand Heart Thrives® are wheat-free. However, they may contain trace amounts of gluten, so we do not label them as gluten-free. Our oats are milled at a facility that also processes other grains. When switching grains, the first several hundred pounds that pass through the mill are rejected, thereby minimizing possible traces of other grains. If you are gluten-intolerent, exercise caution; but for most individuals the potential trace amount of gluten is insignificant.

I can tell you I have had no problem with them and I am gluten-intolerant. So if you are looking for a low-cal, healthy snack alternative, you MUST try Heart Thrive cakes. You won't be sorry! My absolute favorites are Lemon Poppyseed & Chocolate Chip. They are great with a cup of coffee!

If you ORDER please mention "She Hath Done What She Could" in the comment field when you check out. I think you will love this heart shaped little snack!

My Juice Fast Experience!

On Saturday, I embarked on a 7 day juice fast (or feast as some people call it). I am crazy about Jason Vale, The Juice Master and I love my new Juicer. Even though I juice daily and blend the Green Smoothie, I have never tried something as "radical" as this! I wasn't concerned about losing weight, I was trying to "reboot" my system and stop my sugar cravings!

The book is well written and super easy to follow. He gives you a shopping list, recipes and days 1-7 laid out for every meal and snack. Every recipe was delicious! I never felt hungry, or never got headaches. I felt good the entire 4 days and after day 2, had lots of energy. Days 1 and 2 I still wanted to eat and smelling and seeing food was hard, but do-able.

Last night however, I started to get very lightheaded and weak and didn't sleep well at all. So, I am listening to my body and easing my way back into eating today. I had hoped to make the 7 days, but I think it's more important to listen to my body!

I have lost 7 pounds in 4 days (though some of that may be due to my getting back to regular exercise in the last month). I plan to continue healthy eating and hopefully resist the deserts more often so I can maintain the loss!

I hope to incorporate my juice for breakfast, then eat a healthy lunch and dinner. I do believe juice fasting is profitable for the digestive system as well as a tool for anti-aging, and I like the idea of doing a 24 hour juice fast periodically to give your system a rest. I've read of one where you juice for dinner, get up, juice breakfast and lunch, then go back to light dinner- so 8 of those 24 hours you would be sleeping - makes it easier!

30 for 30 Recap!

Here's the first week recap of my 30 for 30. As you can see, I really like color and pattern! Up against all of these, my #8 looks like a dud - too dark!

Who would have thunk that switching up 30 items and not shopping for a month would teach you so much? I think Kendi is doing the blogging world a big service by running these challenges. It IS a challenge. Choices are so limited. Can you imagine having only 4 pair of shoes in your entire wardrobe? How about 5 cardigans? So many people in the world do, and think nothing of it! You really do learn to live with little and make due with what you have- great lessons.
recap 1-4
recap 5-8
At first, not shopping was hard, but after just 1 week, I could care less. I truly think the more you shop, the more you WANT to shop, and it just feeds a vicious cycle. Really, how many pair of shoes do I need? Sweaters? Dresses? Come on, when is enough, enough? It's fun shopping and changing up things for seasons and trends, so I try to purge when I get something new, but some times, I find that keeping up with the "latest releases" at Anthro, Jcrew or Target is exhausting. Does anyone know what I mean??

I haven't had a lot of free time this week, so I feel out of the loop on the blogs - I have tried to read when I can. I sure am enjoying the 30 for 30 though and have "met" some other great bloggers via this avenue.

Looking back..........

I thought it would be fun to look back and see what I posted 1 year ago today - this is it! My early days of OOTD picture taking! And BTW, I never went back for that pricey boutique coat!! heehee I have learned so much about formatting and blogging since then. And I have become great friends with so many of you!! Good times!

Simply Vera Wang - my fav line at Kohls! I eyed this shirt for months but couldn't pay the $47 price tag- so I got it on sale when it went to 80% off! Yeah! I just love the funkiness of this shirt. I paired it with my new Target necklace again today- it's a great match. I went to THE coolest boutique today owned by a home schooling mother - wish I would have had $1000 to spend - I loved everything but it was pricey! I may go back for an awesome fatigue coat that was on sale.

Shirt: Simply Vera Wang
Sweater: Old Navy Fuschia Sweater Coat
Necklace: Target
Jeans: Old Navy Skinny Diva Jeans
Boots: My new favs - Union Bay

OOTD- Outfit One!

My morning didn't start out so great- I made my Green Lemonade, nice and fresh, and started to unload the dishwasher. Whoops- entire glass of Green Lemonade knocked into clean dishes in dishwasher! So had to rewash the dishes and no healthy breakfast for me......so I just had this instead...A Peanut Butter Cup Sandwich (don't look at me, my sister taught me this bad habit - oh wait, it is good fat and protein and eaten on GF bread!) and my Starbucks coffee! I will juice at lunch!
On a good note, I am already this far along on supper at 11 am! This is Black Bean Soup and smelled delicious while it was cooking.
I also got up early and kept to getting in my miles in February - walked 2 glorious miles and saw this hawk..........
And this crow........
And listened to THIS.

Here is my 1st outfit of 30!
