A word about the Anthroholic ban I joined........

Here is my confessional! How did you all do if you joined in Kim's Shopping Ban??

I didn't go whole hog and not buy A THING. But I did cut back and only bought what things I really needed or thought were extra special. I tried not to buy things just because they were cute or a good deal, and the ban really helped me stick to my list.

I got these during the ban:

RJ Girl Anthro-like shoes $15 via ROSS

Merona Navy Trouser - I really needed these especially for work and they were marked down to $7!

NY & Co. floral pleated skirt- I loved this whole line at NY&Co and the skirt got marked to $11 and there was only 1 left in my size! I will wear this to work, church and dressed down for everyday.

Target Pearce Pumps - I have been on the lookout for the perfect pair for over a year, so when I saw these as an online return in my size at $15, I had to bite!

Anthropologie Picked Plaid skirt- I didn't want this one to get away from me on sale - used a gift card and paid $7.

Old Navy Ruffled Sleeveless Henley - I needed a nice white blouse to go under cardis and jackets for work - I had been looking for some time, and this one was on markdown this weekend with extra 50% off, making it $9.

Dollar Tree Love!

Lately I've been loving me some Dollar Tree! They have had THE best items. Let me say I am always very careful to read anything I buy from The Dollar Tree, especially food to make sure it is made in the USA. I don't buy anything made in China because I worry about toxins! These have been some of our recent scores.

32 Oz. Gatorade - these are more than $2 at the grocery store

2 bottles of Loreal for a dollar! Can you believe? These are about $7 a piece at the drug store.

Check out this Sally Hansen Lip Gloss- I've seen these in the drugstore for $8! Whoot-whoot. This is made in Taiwan, but so are the Sally Hansen Lip Glosses from the drugstore or Target.

Sunflower seeds- we go through these by the boatload during baseball season! These are $2 at the grocery. The only way to get them cheaper is Amazon Subscribe & Save which I actually do for a ton of our food, now I will add these too!

Buds Best Cookies - these are made in the USA - in fact, in Hoover, Alabama, where one of my dearest friends lives!

And my regulars:

Purse tissues

Flossers

Toothpaste- I look for the one with the largest ounces and ADA stamp!

Hand soap-buy the larger refill size for only a $1 too!

And even more today!! No high-fructose corn syrup, 24 oz. for $1!

Soymilk- I prefer Rice Milk but I use this to make hot chocolate at home for me.

This flaxseed is $6.xx on Amazon right now!!

I always read the size of the product as well and only buy full size. Sometimes at Dollar Tree they will package things to make it look good, but the number of items or ounces included is much less than the grocery store.

Check out Dollar Tree for your basic necessities- you may be surprised at the offerings!

OOTD- Professional Prints

I think you can make any print go professional when paired with the right pieces. Put a bold print flower top or small flower ditsy print with a plain jane pencil skirt and you've got a look that works. I had to find a reason to wear my fab new Anthro-like shoes!

"Well color me happy"! (The color teal!)

I can't even believe I found these tonight at ROSS!
My luck with shopping lately has been THE best!
So, guess I broke the old shopping ban! But these were worth it!
Leather, teal, Anthro-esque shoes in my size for $14.99!!! Whoot! When I got home, I looked them up online and found them for $79.

When you meet blogging friends in real life!

It's been a super fun two days, hanging out with Debra and her husband, Jay! My husband, children and I took Debra and Jay on a driving tour of San Francisco today and it was loads of fun. Debra is exactly how I thought she would be from reading her blog, then emailing her and even talking on the phone. Being around her was like being with a friend I've known for years. Her husband has the same easy-going, fun personality and we all got along like we had been long-time friends! We saw the sights all around San Francisco and Muir Woods, and were treated to In-and-Out and Jay even bought the kids Ghirardelli sundaes! Yumm!

This is the cool Golden Gate Bridge that is built out of Rice-A-Roni boxes at Anthro!

These are the gals who came to the blogger meet-up! Bethy of Style Aesthetic and Anjali of Love and Wardrobe. It was so great meeting these ladies! They were both as I had imagined them from reading their blogs. It was fun to get to visit and get to know each other better. We had a great time shopping the Anthro racks and chatting along the way about jobs, marriage, children and blogging.

To me, this is THE best thing I have gained from blogging. Although I have gained a ton of inspiration, fashion and sale tips, and have learned along the way more about myself and my own style, it's the friendships I have gained across the internet waves that mean the most.

OOTD- All Business

Off to the salt mines!

Terrible pic with my camera early in the morning! I wish you could see the super cute detail of this Jcrew double breasted jacket! Thanks to Lorraine for my fab necklace from the Secret Santa swap last year!

Do you like the micro in my photo? I brought it home from work so my scientist son can blow things up in it like Ivory soap! Fun!

Target Reader Outfits was delayed since blogger was down - I will get to it next week, so if you still want to send one, go right ahead! Thanks.

OOTD-Nautical

I've looked for a basic white cotton skirt for over a year now- just a simple one I could wear for every day. I finally found it at Ross (and they typically have NO good skirt selection). I am happy because I will wear this so many ways over the warmer months. I am more comfortable in a skirt than shorts or jeans.

I've started the Chalene Johnson 30-day Challenge and I'm loving it. You all may recall I won a contest a few years ago and Chalene was a guest in my home! I love her!
