Good info to know about BPA in plastics

I am becoming more concerned with my children's exposure to BPA in plastics simply because it messes with the hormones and development in children.  It mimics estrogen in the body and is found in concerning levels of the humans that have been tested.  I am trying to do all I can to minimize our exposure, but I was shocked to learn this week that BPA is in the lining of all canned foods!  I use organic canned tomotoes and beans frequently in my chili recipes.  I guess this means that I will now have to start making all our beans from scratch (I already make many from scratch) but this will mean more work to be diligent on my part (guess a homeschooling mom can't catch a break??)

I have already switched to glass for food storage and everyday drinking and I purchased the new BPA free Vitamix container several months ago.

There are two articles here and here that are informative - I am still doing much study on this subject.

  1. Good for you, doing your research! I'm still not sure if BPA is harmful or not but it's smart to do our own research!
